Here’s what you can expect:

We are an activity-based preschool (rather than worksheet-based), and our lesson plans reflect that. There are very few “worksheets” included with our curriculum. Our goal is to teach age-appropriate academics. We do use some paper and pencil learning, but have chosen to use materials already developed by others for this.

In our preschool we cover all the basics including colors, shapes, numbers, alphabet, word recognition, phonics, writing, and basic punctuation. We use some traditional methods of teaching mixed with hands-on experiences. Children learn best by participating, rather than just passively listening, and need a happy, positive teacher who provides many opportunities to bring these concepts to life.

We take a low-tech approach in our preschool. We are not anti-academics or anti-technology, but feel social and emotional experiences as well as practical life skills are as important as academic skills. There are wonderful early childhood programs that are free or very low cost, and we are happy for families to use these in educating children. Our goal, however, is to provide activities and experiences that cannot be had online.

We love our jobs! We have done this long enough to teach children of our former preschoolers. Being a preschool teacher is sometimes exhausting, but never, ever boring! Enjoy the experience. The world needs good teachers! We hope the LESSONS LEARNED IN PRESCHOOL curriculum will help you be one of the great ones!
