This easy craft activity is based on the beloved children’s book, The Rainbow Fish by Marcus Pfister. There are several other Rainbow Fish books in the series — all very cute — and each emphasizes important qualities such as kindness, inclusion, sharing, etc. You can talk about these qualities and the lessons learned from the books as you make your own rainbow fish!

What You Will Need:
- 1 large paper plate
- Hot glue gun
- Scissors
- Washable markers
- Glitter glue
- 1 large wiggly eye
- 1 wooden dowel, 18” long
- 36” of string or yarn
- 2 gummy worms
Instructions:
- Cut two triangles from the paper plate, forming a fish tail.
- Glue the wiggly eye onto the inside of the plate near the edge.
- Decorate the fish with markers and glitter glue. Let the glue dry completely.
- Punch a hole in the top of the plate and tie one end of the string through the hole. Tape or tie the other end of the string to the dowel.
- Cut a slit for the mouth below the eye. Push the gummy worm into the slit.
- Give your child the other gummy worm to eat, so they will not eat the one in the fish’s mouth.
- Congratulations, you caught a rainbow fish!
