Kids love to color sort, name colors they know, and string things. Fruit Loop necklaces are the perfect preschool activity because they’re not only a great way to teach about color, but they help young children with their eye-hand coordination. And as an added bonus, kids end up with a fun cereal necklace they can eat for the rest of the day!
How To Make A Fruit Loop Necklace:
- Give each child a handful of Fruit Loops cereal.
- Cut boondoggle approximately 30 inches long. (If you’re doing this with a large group of children, you might want to measure and cut the boondoggle ahead of time.)
- Tape one end of the boondoggle toward the middle of the table, so the length of it fits on the table. This prevents losing everything that has been strung if they drop it.
- Let the children string their cereal, leaving 6″ open at the end.
- The parent or caretaker should remove the tape when finished, not the child, or everything may be lost off that end!
- Slide the cereal to center it on the boondoggle, so there is a three inch piece open on each side.
- Tie with a slipknot and pull tight. Tie a second time and pull tight for extra security.
- Let the kids wear, eat, and enjoy!
